LPOC’s Advocacy Day at the Capitol 2018

Date: Monday, March 12, 2018

Location: Sacramento, California

About:  The Latino Physicians of California (LPOC) supports Latino physicians and mentors young Latinos desiring to enter the health professions.  LPOC has hosted statewide conferences in Sacramento, Oakland and Los Angeles over the past three years.  There is an urgency to address the disparity that exists in that while 40% of the state population is Latino, only 15% of those admitted to medical schools in 2016 were Latino.  The similar disparate data holds true for the majority of the health professions.   The conference   will bring together the top Latino and other experts, academics and health professionals to present what is being done to correct this disparity and to elicit information on how this disparity can be addressed.  The panel will share their insights on how this disparity can be addressed, breakout sessions will elicit input that will create a strategy that LPOC can implement with community, government, legislative and other partners.  We will examine evidence-based practices to retain and strengthen the current and future Latino physician workforce.

Registration: Details soon to come!
